BRIEF HISTORY

The most easterly region of Ghana with a wonderful river estuary, bordering on Togo, the Volta Region is an area of extraordinary scenic beauty with tourist sites such as Lagoons, mountains and water falls. The rolling hills and valleys, rocky outcrops overlooking Lake Volta, and lagoons, rivers and waterfalls make for one of nature’s most attractive gift to Ghana.

Day one
Arrival and overnight at hotel

Day two
Depart Accra early in the morning and take a scenic drive to Hohoe in the Volta region of Ghana. Stop at the Akosombo Dam which serves as the link between Eastern region and Volta region. After lunch, we continue to Volta region. Overnight at hotel

Day three
Depart hotel after breakfast to Wli falls. The tallest waterfall in West Africa, measure about143 meters from the upper fall to the plunge pool below it.  Its sheer grandeur, height, beauty and cool environment beat every imagination. Continue to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary after lunch. One of the most popular and well-run ecotourism projects in the country. Overnight at hotel

Day four
Depart hotel early morning to Mount Afadzato. the highest mountain in Ghana at an elevation of 885 meters (2,904? ft.). Experience the caves on Mount Afadzato on way back. Overnight at hotel.

Day five
Depart hotel in the morning for Adventure and Sightseeing Expeditions at Keta. The Xavi Bird sanctuary is at the Avu lagoon. The second largest lagoon in the area canoe with a local birding guide on the Loto River.
Continue to Keta Lagoon late afternoon. One of the largest lagoons in Ghana, separated from the Ocean by a sandbar. This site is Ghana’s most important marine birding site and its Island provides sights of special attraction. Overnight at Hotel.

Day Six
Depart Volta to Accra late afternoon. Overnight at Hotel.
